Tour of the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art

The January 2nd opening of the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art brought a buzz to the city of Charlotte as the number of visitors topped 5,000 in just 5 hours. The opening was exciting to all for many reasons, but especially exciting to everyone here at MODE. We have had the opportunity to work with the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art for more than 18 months, designing everything from the visual identity to the ticket counter digital displays, to the signage seen throughout the building.

As a special ‘Thank You’ for our hard work Michael Godfrey, the curator of the Bechtler, offered to host a private after-hours tour of the museum for all MODE employees and their significant others. It was highly rewarding for everyone at MODE to finally see all the elements we have designed functioning seamlessly in context, echoing the identity and brand of the Bechtler. As we toured the museum, Michael paused at key pieces and gave us insight into the stories behind them. Learning more about the artists and how each work is tied to the Bechtler family brought greater meaning as well as intimacy and tangibility to the collection, enhancing the experience.

Visit the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art for a collection dedicated to the celebration of the strongest aspects of mid-century modernism.
