July has been an exciting month for us here at MODE, earlier this month we celebrated the launch of the redesigned Mellow Mushroom website. We planned some low-key festivities around the studio and we knew our friends from Mellow Mushroom were going to join us in Charlotte for the launch, we were quite surprised however, to find that they had transported a mobile oven from their headquarters in Atlanta and were set up to bake pizzas in our parking lot. As with any development team, we are constantly looking for better tools to do our jobs. Personally, I have messed with Flex for a while but never really had the inspiration to create anything with it. Flex.org released a new multi purpose desktop utility for working with Flex. It was designed to show the capabilities of Flex as well as serve as a reference point for developers. It includes exhibitions of the various components available within Flex as well as code samples for how to implement them. More »

Let me kick things off by introducing myself, the name is Preston Parris aka “Magik”. I began as an intern here at MODE. yet that quickly transformed into a full-time gig as an Interactive Developer. That’s the official title at least, but like everyone else here, I wear many hats. An average day might consist of doing some front-end development, Actionscript/Flash programming, working on an iPhone App, or PHP coding. It has been one long enthralling roller coaster ride ever since I began a little over a half year ago. The amount of information and experience I have gained has been incredible. Every day I am challenged to learn and progress. Although it has taken a ton of hard work, I wouldn’t be anywhere close to where I am today without the help and support of the team here at MODE.
